Winter has finally kicked in here, so why not use some of that ice to make candles? The ice creates a beautiful and unique lacy effect as the hot wax hardens around it.

This ice candle tutorial recycles milk cartons for the candle mold containers. See How to Make Candles at Taste of Home for full instructions.

The more holes (ice) your candle has, the more unstable your candle becomes. A thick mold with a little ice is your best bet!

The instructions call for a pillar candle to be inserted into the middle. The wax in the carton with ice is for decorative purposes. I think it’s a great idea.
