13 Ways to Embellish Boring Candles

January 1, by Shellie Wilson. Leave a Comment

Candles are a simple and classic way to add warmth and ambiance to any room. Whether you prefer the soft glow of a pillar candle or the flickering light of a votive, there’s nothing quite like the ambiance created by the gentle flicker of a flame. However, sometimes store-bought candles can feel a little bland or uninspired. That’s where candle embellishment comes in!

With a little creativity and a few supplies, you can easily transform boring store-bought candles into unique and eye-catching centerpieces or home decor accents. Here are thirteen ways to embellish your candles and add a personal touch:

  1. Add glitter or sequins: A sprinkle of glitter or a few sequins can add a touch of glamour to any candle. Simply brush a thin layer of glue onto the candle and sprinkle on your choice of sparkly embellishment.
  2. Wrap with twine or ribbon: Wrapping a candle with twine or ribbon is a simple and easy way to add texture and interest.
  3. Paint with stencils: Use stencils and acrylic paint to add patterns or designs to your candles.
  4. Cover with shells or beach glass: For a beachy, coastal vibe, cover the surface of your candle with shells or beach glass.
  5. Embellish with flowers or herbs: Fresh or dried flowers and herbs make beautiful candle decorations. Simply hot glue them onto the surface of the candle.
  6. Add a scent: Boost the aroma of your candle by adding essential oils or dried herbs to the surface.
  7. Cover with lace or doilies: Lace or doilies add a vintage, romantic touch to any candle.
  8. Use washi tape: Washi tape is a fun and easy way to add patterns and color to your candles.
  9. Add a personal touch with stickers or decals: Personalize your candle with stickers or decals that match your style or interests.
  10. Cover with beads or jewels: For a more luxurious look, cover your candle with beads or jewels.
  11. Use stencils and wax crayons: Melt wax crayons and use a stencil to add a pop of color to your candle.
  12. Dip in wax: Create a layered, ombré effect by dipping the bottom of your candle in melted wax.
  13. Make a mosaic: Use small tiles, beads, or pebbles to create a mosaic design on the surface of your candle.

With these thirteen ideas, you can easily take your store-bought candles from boring to beautiful. Happy decorating!
